Ryan Destiny Just Made Us Want a Silk Press Again

Just when we thought we were committed to our curls for the rest of summer, Ryan Destiny showed up with a silk press. The actor stars alongside Tracee Ellis Ross and Anderson .Paak in PATTERN Beauty’s new Smooth Operators campaign celebrating the expansion of the brand’s Heat Collection. Inspired by the glossy beauty campaigns and R&B videos of the ’90s and early 2000s, the imagery is sleek, nostalgic, and enough to make us reconsider our next hair appointment.

At the center of the launch is PATTERN’s first Vibrating Flat Iron, designed specifically with curls, coils and tight textures in mind. The $119 tool features ceramic-coated vibrating plates intended to help hair glide more smoothly and achieve a sleek finish with fewer passes.

The brand also introduced a Blow Out Primer and Detox Shampoo, joining its existing heat-styling lineup as PATTERN continues to make room for something natural-hair girls have always known: wearing your hair naturally does not mean wearing it the same way every day. And that may be our favorite thing about the campaign.

Ryan Destiny channels ’90s beauty in PATTERN Beauty’s new Heat Collection campaign featuring the brand’s first Vibrating Flat Iron, Blow Out Primer and Detox Shampoo.

Ryan’s glossy, flowing hair feels like a throwback to the era of silky presses, roller wraps, and R&B-video beauty while still looking completely current. PATTERN’s message is less about choosing between curls and straight hair and more about having the tools to enjoy both responsibly.

Consider our silk press appointment officially back on the calendar.
