Kristen Stewart Brings High–Low Grunge to NYC While in Town for Her Directorial Debut
By Alexus Mosley
Kristen Stewart was spotted in New York City this week, while working on her highly anticipated directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, bringing her signature high-low grunge to the streets.
True to form, Stewart used the streets of NYC to demonstrate both polish and rebellion, while styled in a floor-length, shimmery, sheer, sequined skirt from The New Arrivals. Grounding the glamour with a sense of edginess was a pair of black underwear underneath, courtesy of Yasmine Eslami.
What makes the moment particularly compelling is its context. Stewart isn’t in New York for a premiere or a red carpet event. She’s here as a director. The Chronology of Water, adapted from Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir, marks a pivotal evolution in Stewart’s career, positioning her firmly behind the camera while still commanding attention in front of it.
This fashion moment is authentic to Stewart’s off-duty style while also reflecting that transition.
