Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s signature sunglasses are officially back. The exact style she wore throughout the 1990s has been reissued through a collaboration between Alex Mill and Selima Optique, the New York boutique where she originally purchased them. The reissued frames, now called “The Carolyn,” are designed to closely replicate the original pair, maintaining the same slim shape, understated proportions, and neutral color palette that defined her personal style. CBK was known for her minimal, refined approach to dressing, favoring neutrals, simple silhouettes, and timeless pieces. Her sunglasses were no exception.

Extremely limited, the sunglasses are available in-store in New York City, with only a small number produced. Each pair is handmade in France and priced at $520. They are also available for purchase online at Selima Optique. In keeping with the exclusivity of the drop, purchases are limited to one pair per customer.

The reissue arrives amid a renewed cultural interest in Bessette-Kennedy’s style, as ’90s minimalism continues to influence current fashion trends. The frames themselves are simple, and their appeal lies in exactly that. Sometimes, the right pair of sunglasses doesn’t need to say much at all.
