Every great closet tells a story, but few come with as many fabulous chapters as Candace Bushnell’s.

The author and journalist behind Sex and the City is opening up her wardrobe for the world to shop. Bushnell has partnered with Depop to sell more than 20 pieces from her personal collection, including designs from Prada, Manolo Blahnik, Missoni, Dolce & Gabbana, and Michael Kors.

But unlike many celebrity resale drops, this one comes with stories. A vintage Prada slip dress isn’t just a Prada slip dress, and a Dolce & Gabbana coat isn’t simply outerwear. These are pieces Bushnell wore to fashion events, premieres, parties, and countless New York moments throughout the years. In fact, she says that’s exactly why she decided to partner with Depop.

“I believe beautiful things deserve more than one life,” she explained, adding that many of the pieces have traveled everywhere from Milan to Vogue events and even a Miss Universe pageant in China.

Among the highlights are metallic Manolo Blahnik pumps, a vintage 1999 Prada slip dress, a leopard-print Dolce & Gabbana corset top, and a burgundy pinstripe Dolce & Gabbana coat complete with leopard lining. More importantly, Bushnell remembers the stories behind nearly all of them. A Michael Kors dress purchased at Bergdorf Goodman at a steep discount became her go-to party dress, and a Pamela Dennis gown was a last-minute Barneys purchase before attending a premiere with Kim Cattrall. Of course, we can’t forget the Missoni dress that accompanied her to an Elton John AIDS Foundation event. And according to the real-life Carrie Bradshaw herself, she wore the Dolce coat from Milan everywhere.

It’s a reminder that the best wardrobes aren’t built overnight, but collected over years of adventures, celebrations, lucky finds, and unforgettable nights out. For Bushnell, these pieces may be leaving her closet, but the stories stitched into them are staying put.
