Anna Sui’s Spring 2027 Collection Made Girlhood Feel Enchanted Again

Anna Sui has always understood that getting dressed can feel a little like playing pretend.
For Spring 2027, she leaned all the way into that idea with a collection full of lavender lace, pearly sequins, storybook parasols, lingerie-inspired slips, and enough ribbons and rosettes to make your inner 12-year-old start planning outfits again.
Only this wasn’t girlhood in the literal sense. It’s girlhood remembered through a haze of perfume, old magazines, fairy tales, and dress-up boxes. Softer, dreamier, and a little strange. Very, very Anna Sui.
The collection began, fittingly, with a rabbit hole. Inspired by the work of American artist Howard Gardiner Cushing, whose paintings of jewel-adorned water nymphs immediately pulled her into another world. From there came storybook illustrations, Art Deco references, mother-of-pearl detailing, 1910s and ’20s silhouettes, and all sorts of beautiful little historical detours.
That dreamy mix translated into softly colored lingerie dressing, shimmering paillettes, floaty layers, and romantic little details that felt part fairy tale, part dressing-up box. Even the more grown-up moments, like sheer black lace and slouchier styling, kept the sweetness from becoming too precious.
The result was less about recreating a specific era than recreating a feeling: the magic of getting dressed before fashion became so serious. Anna Sui made girlhood feel enchanted again — and reminded us that growing up doesn’t mean you have to stop playing pretend.
