RHOP’s Wendy Osefo & Husband Arrested on Fraud Charges
By Alexus Mosley
In a twist even Bravo editors couldn’t script, Real Housewives of Potomac star Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were arrested Thursday in Maryland on multiple fraud charges. The pair was booked in Westminster, with bonds set at $50,000 each.
Authorities say Wendy is facing a total of 16 charges, including seven felony counts for false/misleading information fraud in excess of $300, plus a misdemeanor charge for making a false statement to an officer. Eddie’s charges include 18 counts, with similar accusations also levelled against him.
The alleged scheme ties back to an incident in April 2024, when the couple reported a burglary at their home during a vacation in Jamaica. They claimed designer bags, jewelry, and valuables were stolen from their ransacked bedroom. But as investigators dug deeper, they found that there were no signs of forced entry, disturbance at the point of entry, and, suspiciously, some of the “stolen” items later surfaced in Wendy’s social media posts.
Court papers also suggest several items claimed stolen had been purchased earlier, then returned for refunds before the supposed burglary took place, all while a $450,000 insurance claim was in motion.
Many fans of RHOP will recognize Wendy from her sharp commentary and poised presence on the show. Before her reality TV fame, she built an academic and policy career: she’s held various political commentator roles and held professorship positions in education.
Eddie, meanwhile, has business ties in entrepreneurship (notably his cannabis brand “Happy Eddie”), which have been featured on the show in recent seasons.
