Tom Brady Reveals His Cloned His Dog

By Alexus Mosley

If you thought retirement for Tom Brady meant just more golf and fewer game days, think again. The NFL icon has jumped into the biotech deep end by cloning his family dog.

Brady announced that his current dog, Junie, is not simply a new family member but a genetic twin of their beloved pup, Lua, who died in December 2023. He worked with Dallas-based Colossal Biosciences using a non-invasive blood draw from Lua before her passing.

As if out of a sci-fi script, the clone reveal coincided with Colossal’s acquisition of another cloning firm, Viagen Pets & Equine, a company that’s already cloned pets for high-profile names.

Brady’s reasoning? “I love my animals. They mean the world to me and my family,” he said. He added that this technology gave them “a second chance.”

But the story doesn’t end in fuzzy puppy photos. The move raises a host of questions. Is pet cloning ethical? Many are also critical of the price of pet cloning, the cost (dog or cat clones start around $50K), and what it says about grief, legacy, and celebrity culture in 2025.
