Hollywood and sports fans alike are mourning today’s news: Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have officially ended their engagement and split after five years together. 

According to sources close to the couple, the decision was mutual. While it was “not easy,” it was made with “love and a deep respect for one another.”

• They went public in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

• Shaun White proposed in October 2024 with a five-carat diamond ring during a surprise dinner in New York. 

• Signs of the split began to appear recently: Nina was seen at the Toronto International Film Festival without her engagement ring, and she removed the engagement post from Instagram. 

• Their last known public appearance together was August 31, 2025, running errands in Los Angeles.
