Russell Brand has been found guilty of rape and three counts of sexual assault following a four-week trial in London. On November 5, a jury at Southwark Crown Court convicted the 51-year-old actor and comedian of sexually assaulting three women between 2004 and 2009 and raping a fourth woman in 2009.

Brand was found guilty of raping a woman he met after one of his comedy performances in London. The remaining convictions involved three separate women, including an MTV employee and a woman working at a radio station. Brand, who pleaded not guilty to all seven charges, was acquitted of two additional counts of rape and one count of attempted indecent assault.

Throughout the trial, the Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor maintained that his sexual encounters had been consensual. He acknowledged using his growing fame to pursue women but denied engaging in nonconsensual sexual activity. Following the verdict, Judge Joel Bennathan revoked Brand's bail and ordered him into custody. Sentencing is scheduled for Monday, November 9, with the actor facing a substantial prison term.

London's Metropolitan Police also confirmed that two additional rape allegations remain under investigation. Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy said in a statement, "I hope this conviction sends a clear message that no one is above the law, no matter how famous or powerful they may be."

The verdict marks a significant development in the criminal case against Brand, whose alleged misconduct first came under widespread public scrutiny in 2023.
