Shay Mitchell Is Headed to the Beach: Pretty Little Liars Star Joins Fox’s Baywatch Reboot

Shay Mitchell is heading to the beach.
The Pretty Little Liars star has joined Fox’s upcoming Baywatch reboot as a series regular, the network announced Wednesday. Mitchell will play Trina, a former lawyer who walked away from a top-tier firm to dedicate herself to lifeguarding full-time.
The character is described as the sharpest mind on Baywatch. She’s passionate and dedicated, though prone to second-guessing herself.
Mitchell joins previously announced lead Stephen Amell, who will play Hobie Buchannon, the son of legendary lifeguard Mitch Buchannon from the original series. The cast also includes Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, and Brooks Nader, with original Baywatch star David Chokachi set to reprise his role as Cody Madison in a recurring role.
Fox ordered 12 episodes straight to series, with production expected to begin this spring in Venice Beach and at the Fox Studio Lot in Century City. The show is slated to premiere during the 2026–27 television season.
Mitchell is best known for playing Emily Fields on Pretty Little Liars and has also appeared in Netflix’s You and Hulu’s Dollface. She is also the founder and chief creative officer of the travel brand Béis.
