Ryan Reynolds Speaks Out as Blake Lively’s Case Heads to Trial

By Alexus Mosley

Ryan Reynolds is stepping in (At least verbally) as Blake Lively’s legal battle with It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni moves toward trial.

In a rare comment, Reynolds hinted that the public isn’t getting the full picture, calling out the gap between “digital life” and real life, and saying he’s “never been more proud” of his wife.

The case, however, has already shifted significantly. A New York judge dismissed 10 of Lively’s 13 claims earlier this month, including her sexual harassment allegations, citing her status as an independent contractor rather than an employee.

What remains? Claims of retaliation, breach of contract, and aiding and abetting retaliation. All of which are set to be presented to a jury when the trial begins May 18. Lively has maintained that the lawsuit was never about spectacle, but about what she describes as ongoing retaliation after privately raising concerns about workplace safety. She’s also pushed back against the narrative framing the situation as “celebrity drama,” emphasizing the real-world impact of online harassment.

Baldoni, who denies all allegations, has said he and his legal team are prepared to present evidence in court and “are not afraid of the truth.” With most claims dismissed but the case far from over, this is now less about headlines, and more about what can actually be proven.
