Billy Porter Says He Hasn’t Been Invited Back to the Met Gala Since 2019

Billy Porter is setting the record straight. In a recent SiriusXM interview, the actor and singer revealed he hasn’t been invited back to the Met Gala since making his unforgettable debut in 2019. “I have not been invited,” Porter said. “I haven’t been invited back since 2019.”
And he’s not losing sleep over it. “I don’t go to places where I’m not welcome,” he added, making it clear he won’t be attending the 2026 Met Gala either. Porter (who arrived at the 2019 event in a now-iconic gold look, carried in by shirtless men) also addressed last year’s Met Gala, which celebrated Black style and dandyism.
“I’m good. It’s all good,” he said. “I don’t require validation from the outside.”
