Nicole Kidman Proves the Little Black Dress Is Chanel’s Sharpest Weapon

At Chanel’s Haute Couture show in Paris, Nicole Kidman delivered a reminder of something we never really forget but occasionally need a reminder of. And if you don’t know what I’m referring to, it’s the fact that when Chanel wields the little black dress, it becomes its sharpest weapon.
Recently named a Chanel brand ambassador last October, Kidman appeared in a knee-length little black dress from the Chanel Métiers d’Art 2026 collection. But it wasn’t your average LBD. As always, Chanel elevates the familiar through craftsmanship with subtle sequins that catch the light, while feather embellishments frame the neckline, accent the hips, and finish the hem. The feathers, often associated with drama, speak in a theatrical yet still measured tone. Genius!

Grounding the look are black-and-white color-blocked pumps from Chanel’s Spring 2026 collection, a sharp visual counterpoint to the inky black dress. The graphic contrast introduces tension and modernity, echoing Chanel’s enduring dialogue between softness and structure. With sleek black sunglasses, a structured mini bag, and adding a metallic touch with silver, dangly earrings.
Her relationship with the house makes the moment resonate even more. When named brand ambassador, Kidman told WWD, “Chanel has always been ahead of the curve, shining a smart and gracious light on women, and I am sure Matthieu will be no exception, just like Karl did in his time.”
