Trump Calls NYT Reporter “Ugly Inside and Out” After Article on His Age Goes Viral

By Alexus Mosley

President Donald Trump is once again at the center of an online firestorm. This time for attacking a journalist’s appearance after a story he didn’t like.

On Wednesday, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, targeting Katie Rogers, the White House correspondent for The New York Times. The post came hours after Rogers co-published an article titled “Shorter Days, Signs of Fatigue: Trump Faces Realities of Aging in Office,” a piece examining visible signs of aging during his return to the presidency.

Rather than disputing the reporting or addressing its claims directly, Trump went after Rogers personally.

“The writer of the story, Katie Rogers, who is assigned to write only bad things about me, is a third-rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out,” Trump wrote.

The remark immediately circulated across social media, sparking debate, criticism, and commentary. Much of it pointing out how quickly discussions shift from policy to personality when it comes to Trump’s interactions with the press. Trump’s clashes with the media have long walked the line between political statement and pop-culture spectacle. In this case, the original NYT piece quickly became secondary to Trump’s insult.

At this point, political press cycles resemble those of pop culture news. Fast, dramatic, personality-driven, and impossible to ignore.
