10 Cozy Halloween Movies to Watch This Spooky Season

By Alexus Mosley

Sometimes the best Halloween plans involve a cozy blanket, a bowl of popcorn, and a little movie magic, so we’ve decided it’s time to trade our regular movie nights for something a little more boo-tiful. But who says Halloween has to be all blood, guts, and things that go bump in the night? Sometimes, we’re simply in the mood for friendly ghosts, fabulous witches, haunted mansions, and a healthy dose of childhood nostalgia.

So grab your favorite blanket, light that pumpkin-scented candle, and prepare for a frightfully delightful movie marathon. We’ve rounded up ten cozy Halloween favorites guaranteed to put a little spell on your spooky season.

Oh, look! Another glorious Halloween movie night! No spooky-season watchlist would be complete without the Sanderson sisters. Between Winifred’s wicked one-liners, Sarah’s delightfully ditzy antics, and the charming streets of Salem, Hocus Pocus is practically required October viewing.

Honestly, we’d watch it for the costumes alone.

2. Practical Magic (1998)

A little romance, a little witchcraft and a whole lot of sisterly love. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman star as the Owens sisters in this enchanting tale of family curses, complicated love lives, and the magic of sisterhood. Add a dreamy Victorian house, an unforgettable kitchen scene, and the ultimate witchy wardrobe, and you’ve got autumn perfection.

Midnight margaritas, anyone?

Complete with friendly monsters, flying broomsticks, and Debbie Reynolds as the fabulous Grandma Aggie, this Disney Channel classic is pure childhood nostalgia.

We’ll take a one-way ticket, please!

4. Casper (1995)

Who knew a ghost could be such a sweetheart? Christina Ricci stars alongside everyone’s favorite friendly ghost in this charming supernatural adventure set inside the wonderfully spooky Whipstaff Manor. It’s funny, surprisingly touching, and packed with all the ’90s movie magic we adore.

Can we keep him?

They’re creepy, and they’re kooky, mysterious, and spooky! The Addams family might have a rather unusual idea of domestic bliss, but there’s something undeniably cozy about their gothic mansion and delightfully eccentric household.

Besides, between Morticia’s impeccable wardrobe and Wednesday’s perfectly deadpan humor, what’s not to love?

A luxury hotel, a secret gathering of witches, and one very unfortunate little boy. Based on Roald Dahl’s beloved book, The Witches stars Anjelica Huston as the deliciously terrifying Grand High Witch. It’s a little darker than your average cozy Halloween pick, but its whimsical storytelling and nostalgic charm make it a seasonal favorite.

Just don’t accept candy from strangers.
