Motherhood brought Hailey Bieber plenty of new experiences, including a health struggle she wasn't expecting to navigate.
The 29-year-old Rhode founder recently opened up to Women's Wear Daily about experiencing premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) after welcoming her son, Jack Blues, with husband Justin Bieber in August 2024. “After I had my son, I struggled with [PMDD] a bit, and there’s just not a lot of conversation or research around it,” Bieber shared.
PMDD is a more severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) that can cause intense mood changes, including anxiety, irritability, and depression. For Bieber, speaking openly about her experience has made a difference. “Conversation, for me personally, makes me feel less alone,” she explained, adding that connecting with others over shared experiences can make difficult moments feel less isolating.
The beauty mogul also revealed that becoming a mother deepened her interest in women's health, particularly the physical and emotional changes that accompany pregnancy and childbirth. “There’s so much that happens when you are pregnant, during childbirth,” she told the publication.
And if there's one thing Bieber hopes to encourage, it's more conversations about the health experiences women often navigate quietly.
