Russell Brand Says He Felt “Inadequate” During Marriage to Katy Perry

Russell Brand is opening up about his short-lived marriage to Katy Perry. The comedian, who was married to the pop star from 2010 to 2012, said he felt “inadequate and insecure” during their relationship and believed marriage would change that.
In a recent interview, Brand admitted he rushed into the decision, thinking being with Perry would make him feel more important and fulfilled. He also took “total responsibility” for the mistakes he made during their 14-month marriage, noting that his expectations put pressure on the relationship.
The pair split in 2011, with Brand famously ending the marriage via text shortly before Perry was set to perform on stage.
