Jordyn Woods may not have stepped onto the court, but according to Karl-Anthony Towns, she still played a major role in helping the New York Knicks bring home their first NBA championship in decades. After the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 on June 13 to secure the 2026 NBA title, Towns made sure to give a special shoutout to an unexpected MVP, and it’s Woods’ now-famous orange clutch bag.

“Hey, Papa, we got the bag,” Towns said in a video shared by the NBA after the game. “The bag made it. The bag’s undefeated, man. I want everyone in New York to know that bag won the championship.”

The accessory in question is an orange clutch from Woods’ fashion brand, Woods by Jordyn, which has quietly become one of the most talked-about good luck charms of the Knicks’ playoff run. The superstition began after fans noticed a curious trend. Every time Woods carried the bag to a game, the Knicks won. The streak became even more legendary after the team lost a Finals game when Madison Square Garden’s bag policy prevented her from bringing it inside.

Speaking to The Cut, Woods revealed she originally created the clutch as a sample for the playoffs. “I had made this sample a while ago for the playoffs,” she explained. “I knew we were going to be in the playoffs just based on the team’s success last year, and I wanted to wear something that’s part of my own brand.” As the Knicks continued their winning streak, the bag quickly developed a reputation among fans. “I kept wearing it, and they didn’t lose,” Woods said. “The one time we lost was when I couldn’t bring my bag into Madison Square Garden, so it kind of created this hysteria.”

Of course, Woods was quick to point out that the team’s championship was earned through talent, not accessories. “I don’t want to take the credit for the amazing talent and skill that these guys have had,” she said. “I’m superstitious, so regardless, if we start winning and I switch it up and we lose, then I just stick with what I know.”

Still, Towns isn’t ready to retire the superstition just yet. During a post-game interview, the Knicks star joked that the lucky clutch only confirmed what he already knew about his fiancée. “You always pray you’re going to pick the right woman for you, and I know I did in my fiancée,” Towns said. “I damn sure know now with that bag. That bag held it down. Shout-out to Woods by Jordyn.”

Whether fans believe in lucky charms or not, one thing is certain, and that’s the fact that Jordyn Woods’ orange clutch has officially earned its place in Knicks championship lore.
