Kai Trump Shares Positive Update on Mom Vanessa Trump Amid Breast Cancer Battle

Kai Trump is sharing a hopeful update on her mother, Vanessa Trump, as the former model continues her battle with breast cancer.
While attending the 2026 ESPY Awards at Lincoln Center in New York City on Wednesday, the 19-year-old offered a brief but encouraging update on her mother’s recovery following surgery. “My mom’s doing good,” Kai said. “She’s doing better.”
The appearance marked one of Kai’s first public comments about Vanessa’s health since she revealed she had undergone surgery as part of her breast cancer treatment. Vanessa, 48, announced her diagnosis in May in an emotional statement shared on Instagram. At the time, she revealed she was working closely with her medical team on a treatment plan while remaining optimistic about the road ahead.
“While this isn’t the news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan,” she wrote. “I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me.”
A month later, Vanessa shared another update, revealing that she had successfully undergone surgery and was recovering. “Over the past four weeks, I’ve been recovering from surgery, and I’m grateful to be healing and moving forward,” she wrote. “Soon, I’ll be starting the second stage of my treatment.”
Although Vanessa has not publicly shared additional details about what that next phase of treatment will involve, Kai’s latest comments suggest her mother is continuing to recover as she moves forward.
Beyond providing an update on Vanessa’s health, Kai also reflected on her own future while walking the ESPYs red carpet. The recent high school graduate is set to attend the University of Miami this fall, where she will play collegiate golf.
Kai also shared advice she has received from her grandfather, President Donald Trump, who has encouraged her to “enjoy every moment” despite the challenges that come with competing. She added that golf legend Tiger Woods, who is currently dating Vanessa, has advised her to simply “be yourself” and “trust the process.”
Kai’s remarks offer the latest public update on Vanessa’s health as she continues recovering from surgery and prepares to begin the next stage of her breast cancer treatment.
