How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days Is Getting a Sequel 23 Years Later

More than two decades after Andie Anderson taught us how to lose a guy in 10 days, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is officially getting the sequel treatment.
A follow-up to the beloved 2003 rom-com is in early development at Paramount, with Kate Hudson attached to produce through her Shiny Penny banner alongside producer Stacey Sher. And yes, there are plans to get Matthew McConaughey back on that motorcycle too.
While Hudson and McConaughey haven’t officially been cast just yet, the intention is for both stars to reprise their roles as magazine columnist Andie Anderson and advertising executive Benjamin Barry. The project is currently searching for a screenwriter, meaning we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out exactly what Andie and Ben have been up to for the past 23 years.
The original movie follows Andie as she tries to drive Ben away in just 10 days for a Composure magazine story, completely unaware that Ben bet he could make any woman fall in love with him in the same timeframe. Naturally, fake intentions turned into real feelings, a love fern was nearly lost in the process, and one very memorable yellow dress entered the rom-com hall of fame.
The movie went on to earn nearly $180 million worldwide against a reported $50 million budget and has only grown more beloved with time.
“How to Lose a Guy feels like a classic at this point,” Hudson told Harper’s Bazaar earlier this year. “New generations keep finding it.”
She’s not wrong. And Hollywood has certainly noticed.
The sequel joins the growing list of late-’90s and Y2K favorites being dusted off for another chapter, following movies like The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Scary Movie, with Practical Magic 2 and Shrek 5 also on the way.
As for what How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days 2 will actually be about? That remains under wraps.
But if Andie Anderson isn’t running Composure by now, we have questions.
