Meryl Streep Channels Her Inner Miranda Priestly in Givenchy on Late Night
By Alexus Mosley
There are movie stars… and then there is Meryl Streep. Stepping out for an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the Queen of Cinema reminded us exactly why her presence (on screen or on the sidewalk) remains unmatched.
Dressed in a Givenchy leopard-print swing coat complete with a pussybow, Streep struck a pose for fans and paparazzi alike. Pairing the coat with cigarette pants and pointed slingback pumps (both of which were in black), she sashayed the Manhattan streets with DeMellier’s top-handle Hudson Bag in hand.
And then there were the sunglasses. Sharp cateye sunnies with just enough opaque tint to suggest a certain air of mystery. This accessory was the cherry on top of a great style moment. It’s impossible not to draw a line between this moment and Streep’s legendary portrayal of Miranda Priestly. The composure, the precision, and ease are all there. Not costume, just essence.
