Nicky Hilton Reminded Us of a Truman Capote Swan at Cannes 2026
By Alexus Mosley
Stepping out at the Chopard Trophy photocall and dinner party during the 79th Annual Cannes Film Festival in a sculptural Georges Chakra couture ensemble paired with glittering Chopard jewels, Nicky Hilton looked somewhere between a Truman Capote swan, a Park Avenue heiress, and the kind of woman who still sends handwritten thank-you notes on cream stationery. In other words: impossibly chic.
At first glance, the look felt deceptively simple. Black trousers skimmed the floor while the corseted ivory bodice created that unmistakable old-school couture shape fashion seems to miss more and more these days. But then came the delicate black bows, sheer netting, and a beautifully ladylike silhouette without becoming overly precious.
It’s been many years since Nicky Hilton subscribed to loud fashion. Her style lives in that very specific universe of inherited elegance and Upper East Side polish, deeply reminiscent of the women who once orbited Truman Capote’s glamorous social circle in the 1960s and ’70s: Babe Paley, Lee Radziwill, Slim Keith.
Sometimes all it takes is beautiful tailoring, impeccable posture, and the confidence of a woman who dresses like she already knows she belongs in the room.
