Fashion lovers have another documentary to add to their watchlists, and it’s all about Twiggy.
With her doe eyes, pixie haircut, and unmistakable Mod style, the British model not only helped define the look of the 1960s but also redefined what fashion could be. Decades later, her influence can still be seen everywhere from today’s runways to magazine editorials and beauty campaigns. And now, a new documentary directed by actress and filmmaker Sadie Frost is bringing Twiggy’s remarkable story to a new generation of viewers.
Following a successful international festival run, Cleopatra Entertainment has acquired the North American distribution rights to Twiggy, which will arrive in the United States this September. Sadie Frost’s second feature documentary follows her acclaimed film about legendary designer Mary Quant and traces Twiggy’s extraordinary journey from a working-class teenager in London to becoming one of fashion’s first true global supermodels. Through archival footage and new interviews, the film explores not only her meteoric rise but also the cultural impact she continues to have almost six decades later.

For Frost, the project represents a continuation of her fascination with the cultural revolution of 1960s Britain. Following her documentary about Mary Quant, she wanted to explore another woman whose influence permanently changed fashion. As Frost has explained, Twiggy transformed not only the industry’s beauty standards but also the way women presented themselves around the world, accomplishing all of this before she had even turned 17.
After screening at festivals in London, Rio, Sydney, Dublin, and Dinard, Twiggy will make its U.S. debut on September 22, 2026, through video-on-demand platforms and DVD. The release comes shortly after New York Fashion Week and will be accompanied by special screenings in New York and Los Angeles, both expected to be attended by Twiggy and director Sadie Frost. The documentary features appearances from an impressive list of friends, collaborators, and admirers, including Paul McCartney, Dustin Hoffman, Brooke Shields, and several other notable figures whose lives intersected with the iconic model.
Twiggy shared her excitement about finally bringing the documentary to American audiences after the overwhelmingly positive international response. Cleopatra Entertainment founder Brian Perera echoed that sentiment, describing Twiggy as far more than a model. He called her a cultural icon whose influence carried the spirit of London’s Mod movement across generations, inspiring everyone from musicians to fashion designers.

It’s difficult to overstate Twiggy’s impact on modern fashion. Before the era of influencers and viral runway moments, she became an international phenomenon almost overnight, helping popularize the Mod aesthetic while ushering in a new vision of youth culture. Her signature cropped haircut, dramatic lashes, and androgynous silhouette challenged conventional beauty ideals and forever changed the fashion industry’s definition of a supermodel.
Nearly sixty years later, designers continue to reference the Swinging Sixties, proving that Twiggy’s influence never truly went out of style. For anyone fascinated by fashion history, Twiggy looks poised to be more than a documentary about one remarkable woman, but promises to be a portrait of an era that forever changed style.
