Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood Star Masika Kalysha's Husband Jamar Champ Passes Away After Car Crash

Reality-star Masika Kalysha is mourning the unexpected loss of her estranged husband, Jamar Champ, who died early on October 28, 2025, in a tragic wrong-way crash on the Katy Freeway near Houston. 

According to the Houston Police Department, the accident occurred just after midnight when a silver BMW traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-10 collided head-on with Champ’s Tesla Cybertruck. The Cybertruck then crashed into an 18-wheeler, and the BMW caught fire on impact. The BMW driver and Champ were both pronounced dead. 

Champ, 38, is survived by his and Masika Kalysha’s daughter, Amari, who turns three this year. Masika Kalysha, who shares another daughter, Khari, with rapper Fetty Wap, had spoken earlier about her mediated separation from Champ. 

On social media, Kalysha wrote: “God woke me up at 2:00 AM… I couldn’t sleep. I didn’t know why. Jesus Christ, I just received the worst news of my life. Pray for me and my kids, please.” She also posted a video asking media outlets to refrain from publishing further details until the children were informed, saying it was “too much” for them to find out through social channels. 

At this time, authorities are conducting an autopsy to determine whether impairment played a role in the crash. Wrong-way driving remains a repeated danger along the corridor.
