New England Patriots' Stefon Diggs Faces Assault and Strangulation Charges, Denies Allegations

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs is facing a felony charge of strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of assault following an alleged incident that reportedly occurred on December 2.

According to reports, a motion hearing was held Tuesday morning in Dedham District Court, where a judge is considering whether to impound court documents ahead of Diggs’ scheduled arraignment on January 23. The date falls just days before the AFC Championship Game.

The New England Patriots released a statement acknowledging the allegations, confirming that Diggs has “categorically denied” them. The organization said it will continue to cooperate with authorities and the National Football League as the matter remains under review.

Diggs’ attorney described the allegations as “unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and never investigated,” stating they stem from a financial dispute related to an employer-employee relationship. His legal team has also argued that public disclosure of details could risk prejudicing the case.

The NFL confirmed it is aware of the situation and is in contact with the Patriots, but declined further comment.

Diggs, 32, currently leads New England in receptions and receiving yards as the Patriots head into their final regular-season game and prepare for the postseason.
