Awards season delivered one of its most unexpectedly tender moments when Timothée Chalamet took the stage at the Critics Choice Awards to accept the award for Best Actor.
Winning for his performance in Marty Supreme, Chalamet appeared visibly shaken as he began his speech, admitting to the audience, “I’ve got a lot of people to thank. I don’t know if I’ll be up here again, so give me a second.” Pausing briefly, he added with a laugh, “Damn, I’m more nervous than I thought I’d be.”
The actor went on to thank his fellow nominees, giving a special nod to Michael B. Jordan, before turning his attention to the film itself. He praised director Josh Safdie for crafting what he described as a deeply relatable story, thanking him for creating a film that explored ambition without moralizing its audience.
“You made a story about the relatable dream, and you didn’t preach to the audience about what’s right and wrong,” Chalamet said. “I think you should all be telling stories like that.”
But it was the closing moments of his speech that resonated most with viewers. Chalamet ended by thanking his partner of three years, saying, “Thank you to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you.”
The cameras immediately cut to Kylie Jenner, who was seen mouthing “I love you” back from her seat. The brief exchange quickly became one of the night’s most talked-about moments, offering a rare glimpse into the couple’s relationship.
