If you needed a sign to book that flight, consider these fabulously chic throwbacks of Posh and Becks it. Long before “airport style” became a full-blown fashion category, Posh and Becks set the blueprint. Did they know they’d be making pop culture? No one knows the answer but them.

Before Instagram airport fits and coordinated paparazzi strolls, Victoria Beckham and David Beckham were moving through Heathrow in 1997 like it was just another day… except it absolutely wasn’t. Captured hand-in-hand, the couple’s look distilled everything we now call' 90s-chic.

Victoria’s sleek brown zip-front dress, tiny sunglasses, and leopard-print shoulder bag prophesied the dawn of her fashion authority, which would only sharpen with time. David embodied the casual-cool athlete boyfriend archetype that dominated early-aughts celebrity culture, keeping things simple and unfussy with a black tee, relaxed trousers, slides, and a duffel slung over his shoulder.

When you remember that this era was pre-social media celebrity culture, when paparazzi caught stars mid-transit, it makes the moment just that more iconic. Famous without trying too hard, and always a step ahead of the culture. Nearly three decades on, this Heathrow moment still reads modern because great pop culture is all about instinct, and the Beckhams had it in spades.
