Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez have officially said: “I do.”

After nearly a decade together, the soccer superstar, 41, and model, 32, tied the knot in an intimate civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on Aug. 11. The private celebration centered on family, with the couple’s five children present.

The newlyweds confirmed the milestone on social media with a romantic photo showing their hands and new wedding bands, while dressed in white. And if the wedding date sounds familiar, there’s a sweet reason why. Ronaldo and Rodríguez married exactly one year after announcing their engagement on Aug. 11, 2025.

Ronaldo and Rodríguez’s love story began with almost as glamorous a story as the life they now share. The pair first crossed paths in Madrid while Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant at Gucci. They began dating in 2016 and made their public debut as a couple at the Best FIFA Football Awards in January 2017.

Their relationship would eventually become one of the most recognizable in sports and pop culture, with Rodríguez later giving fans a closer look at their family life through her Netflix reality series, I Am Georgina.

After years together, Ronaldo finally popped the question in 2025. Rodríguez announced their engagement by sharing a photo of her enormous diamond ring alongside the Spanish caption, “Sí, quiero. En esta y en todas mis vidas”—or, “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”  Exactly one year later, they became husband and wife.

Family has remained central to Ronaldo and Rodríguez’s relationship. Ronaldo is the father of five children: Cristiano Jr., twins Eva and Mateo, and daughters Alana and Bella. Rodríguez and Ronaldo share Alana and Bella together, while Rodríguez has helped raise all five children as part of their family.

The couple also endured an unimaginable loss in 2022 when their baby son Ángel, Bella’s twin brother, died during childbirth. Ronaldo has since spoken publicly about how the loss affected their family and relationship.

Now, after years of building their life together, Ronaldo and Rodríguez have made things official. Despite being one of the most famous couples in the world, they chose to do it rather quietly.

Just family, wedding rings, and nearly a decade-long love story finally getting its “I do.”
