Nicki Minaj is making headlines once again. This time, for her comments about former President Donald Trump.

The Grammy-winning rapper referred to herself as Trump’s “No. 1 fan” while speaking at a Treasury Department–hosted summit in Washington, D.C., held to launch the administration’s new “Trump Accounts” initiative for newborn babies. “I will say that I am probably the president’s No. 1 fan,” Minaj told attendees, adding that public criticism of her stance has not affected her support. According to the artist, backlash has only strengthened her resolve.

“The hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all,” she said. “It actually motivates me to support him more.”

Minaj also addressed what she described as “bullying” and “smear campaigns,” stating that she believes Trump has significant public support and divine protection. Her remarks came ahead of Trump’s own appearance at the event.

The rapper, born Onika Maraj, has made several public appearances connected to conservative-leaning events in recent months. Last month, she made a surprise appearance at Turning Point USA’s annual conference, where she expressed admiration for Trump and spoke about shared roots in Queens, New York.

During Wednesday’s summit, Trump returned the praise, calling Minaj “the greatest and most successful female rapper in history.” He also thanked her for donating “hundreds of thousands of dollars” to the newly launched Trump Accounts program. “I just think she’s great,” Trump said.

Minaj’s comments have sparked conversation across social media and pop culture circles, adding another chapter to the ongoing intersection of celebrity influence and politics.
