During a June 15 press conference discussing New York City’s busy summer schedule, Mayor Zohran Mamdani casually mentioned “Taylor Swift’s wedding” alongside major events expected to bring visitors to the city, instantly sending the internet into speculation mode.
Since neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed a wedding date, location, or even an engagement, Mamdani’s remark immediately caught the attention of fans online.
The mayor made the comment while discussing New York City’s preparations for a busy summer that includes the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Fourth of July celebrations, and a packed schedule of major events. “We know it coincides with the Knicks’ Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding—all happening at the same time—and we are so excited to welcome the world here,” Mamdani told reporters.
Naturally, the comment reignited speculation that Swift and Kelce could be planning to tie the knot in New York City this summer. Rumors have circulated for weeks that the couple’s wedding could take place over the July Fourth weekend, with some reports even suggesting that Madison Square Garden may play a role in the festivities.
Adding to the intrigue, Madison Square Garden CEO James Dolan recently addressed rumors that the superstar couple had received complimentary tickets to a Knicks game in exchange for booking the iconic venue for their wedding. While he dismissed parts of the speculation, he also hinted that reporters had “got half of it wrong,” prompting even more questions about what may—or may not—be happening behind the scenes.
