Twin Peaks and The OA Actor Owain Rhys Davies Dies at 44

Fans of Twin Peaks and The OA are mourning the loss of actor Owain Rhys Davies.
The Welsh performer, whose career spanned television, film, and theater, has died at the age of 44. News of his passing was shared by his family over the weekend in a statement posted to Instagram by his brother, Rhodri Davies.
“It is with profound sadness that my father and I share the news that my brother, Owain, has passed away,” Rhodri wrote, describing the loss as devastating for the family.
While he acknowledged that there are still unanswered questions surrounding the circumstances of Davies’ death, Rhodri said the family understands that the actor “passed suddenly, naturally, and peacefully.”
Davies work reached audiences across several beloved projects. Many television viewers will recognize him from Twin Peaks: The Return, where he portrayed Agent Wilson in the acclaimed revival of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s cult classic. He also appeared in Netflix’s The OA, a series that continues to maintain a passionate following years after its cancellation.
Beyond television, Davies built a diverse career that stretched across film and stage. His screen credits included Alice Through the Looking Glass, The Indian Doctor, My Dead Ex, and A Serial Killer’s Guide to Life.
The actor was also a familiar face in London’s theater community, performing in productions such as Mamma Mia!, The Wizard of Oz, By Jeeves, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at the Royal National Theatre.
In his statement, Rhodri reflected on the relationships his brother built throughout his life and career.
“Owain was fortunate enough to have more than one family,” he wrote. “Alongside his biological one, he built extraordinary, family-like bonds with many of his closest friends, colleagues, and loved ones.”
Following news of his passing, tributes began pouring in from friends, colleagues, and fans remembering Davies not only for his work on screen and stage, but for the kindness and generosity he showed to those around him.
