Cardi B is speaking out after Latto confirmed that her song “Gimme Dat” was inspired by the Grammy-winning rapper.

During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, Latto addressed the long-rumored tension between the two artists, prompting Cardi to respond in a lengthy message on X on June 4.

In her statement, Cardi acknowledged a leaked phone call that resurfaced in recent years, admitting she regretted comments she made during the conversation. “I truly understand how you feel, and that’s exactly why I chose to apologize publicly because the disrespect became public,” Cardi wrote. The rapper explained that the conversation took place during an emotionally difficult period in her life and insisted she never intended to disrespect Latto.

Cardi also revealed that she made multiple attempts to reach out privately over the past two years, including contacting Latto directly and speaking with people in her circle. “In 2025 and 2026, I made multiple attempts to connect,” Cardi wrote. “I spoke with your manager, your sister, and even texted you directly to take full responsibility.”

According to Cardi, the difference between them was not whether an apology happened but how each artist wanted to handle the situation moving forward. “I always wanted to make it right,” she said. “I wanted to connect with you, but you wanted to address it on your album.”
