LeBron James Signs With Philadelphia 76ers, Says It’s His “Last Decision”

LeBron James is headed to Philadelphia.
After weeks of speculation surrounding his NBA future, the four-time NBA champion has officially signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, bringing an end to his eight-season run with the Los Angeles Lakers and beginning what he says will be the final chapter of his legendary career.
Klutch Sports Group CEO Rich Paul confirmed that the 41-year-old has signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the franchise. But according to LeBron, this decision wasn’t about money. In a lengthy statement shared on social media, the NBA icon revealed that he genuinely believed his career had already come to an end following last season. “I thought I was done when the season ended,” LeBron wrote. “I wasn’t ready to announce it, and I knew I needed some time to really decide, but I was pretty sure I played my last game.”
The NBA’s all-time leading scorer explained that taking time away from basketball allowed him to reflect on what still motivates him after more than two decades in the league. “I was honest at that last press conference when I said I needed to look at myself and decide if I still love this game,” he continued. “I still truly love this game, and I have more to give.”
LeBron said the time off helped him realize that his competitive fire hasn’t faded. “I still want to sacrifice. I still want to work. I still want to grind. I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning another championship.” That desire ultimately led him to Philadelphia. “I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team, and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time.”
He concluded his message by thanking the cities that helped shape his remarkable career. “Thank you LA. Miami I’ll forever love and Northeast Ohio will always [be] home!”
The move marks the beginning of what LeBron described as his “last decision,” suggesting the 76ers will be the final stop in one of the most decorated careers in NBA history. Now, all eyes turn to Philadelphia, where one of basketball’s greatest players will chase one final championship before calling it a career.
