Aaron Rodgers Breaks His Silence on Shailene Woodley Engagement and Makes Bombshell Claims About Their Split

Aaron Rodgers is opening up about his broken engagement to Shailene Woodley and, years after their highly publicized split, the NFL star has a very different version of how their relationship ended.
During a Sept. 10 appearance on Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Cam Heyward’s Not Just Football podcast, Rodgers spoke candidly about his former relationships, including his whirlwind romance and engagement to the Divergent actress.
According to Rodgers, things between him and Woodley began unraveling only months after he proposed. “I date Shailene, I propose, and she says yes,” Rodgers recalled before claiming that Woodley later told him she wanted to sleep with someone else before they got married.
Rodgers also pushed back against what he characterized as the public narrative surrounding their breakup, claiming Woodley had removed her engagement ring by March and had already told him she no longer wanted to be with him.
The pair reportedly attempted to reconnect afterward, but Rodgers said there was no real relationship left to end by 2022. “There’s just a lot of narratives out there that are just not true,” Rodgers said while explaining why he decided to speak publicly about the situation.
Woodley has not publicly responded to Rodgers’ latest claims. The actress has, however, previously spoken about the emotional aftermath of that period of her life. In a past interview with Outside, Woodley became emotional while discussing her relationship with Rodgers, describing it as both “not right” and “beautiful.”
She also discussed remaining in what she described as a toxic situation because she tended to empathize deeply with other people and recalled experiencing an extremely difficult period in early 2022. “I felt like I lost my soul, my self, my happiness, my joy,” Woodley said at the time while discussing her experiences with depression and anxiety. Woodley did not explicitly attribute every part of that experience to Rodgers.
Rodgers and Woodley surprised fans when their engagement was revealed in 2021 after keeping much of their relationship private. By the following year, reports surfaced that the couple had called things off.
Now, several years later, Rodgers appears ready to tell his version of what happened behind the scenes. Judging by everything he had to say, there was apparently a lot more going on than fans knew.
