Travis Kelce Reveals Why He and Taylor Swift Chose Madison Square Garden for Their Wedding

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Madison Square Garden wedding may have seemed like an unexpected choice, but according to Kelce, the iconic New York City venue gave them exactly what they wanted.
Nearly two months after the couple tied the knot on July 3, Kelce opened up about why they chose MSG for their star-studded ceremony during the Sept. 2 episode of New Heights.
“We wanted to do it somewhere where we could have a very intimate and genuine setting without a lot of distractions,” Kelce explained. “We needed it to be a private feel.”
Despite hosting a reported 1,000 guests, Kelce said Madison Square Garden was able to create the kind of atmosphere they had envisioned. “MSG went above and beyond to give us that,” he continued, calling the evening “very magical.”
For Kelce, one of the most memorable parts of the wedding was seeing the people closest to both him and Swift all in one place. “It was so cool to see everyone from my childhood not only mesh with Taylor, but [the people] from her childhood and her family and friends,” he said.
The guest list also included people the couple had met throughout their careers, along with friends and famous faces they had come to admire over the years. Kelce said that in the months since the wedding, hearing how much fun guests had has made the celebration feel even more special.
Kelce also opened up about Adam Sandler officiating.
According to Kelce, Sandler agreed to become ordained in New York in order to marry the couple. “He has been just the f–king best person on this planet,” Kelce said, praising the comedian for bringing his signature personality to such an important moment.
Kelce’s brother Jason Kelce, who served as best man, was equally complimentary of the ceremony. “The ceremony was beautiful,” Jason said, adding that Sandler “killed it” and praising both Travis and Swift’s vows.
He also loved the couple’s decision to skip a long list of formal speeches once the ceremony ended.“There wasn’t a bunch of the speeches,” Jason explained. “It was just time to party and have fun.” With guests reportedly including Brad Pitt, Paul McCartney and Conan O’Brien, it sounds like there was plenty of partying to do.
For a couple whose relationship has played out on some of the world’s biggest stages, Madison Square Garden may have been a fitting place to make things official.
