Reece Weaver is officially trading the sidelines for the stage.
After hanging up her Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders uniform, the 25-year-old has stepped into an entirely new chapter with her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago.
The career move marks a major shift for Weaver, who became a fan favorite through the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and Netflix’s America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. But Broadway, it turns out, has long been on her wish list.
Weaver revealed that landing the role came less than two months after she publicly named Chicago as one of her dream opportunities, calling the booking “pure manifestation.”
And while she may have retired from DCC, her former squad is still firmly in her corner. Weaver said many of her teammates, along with Cowboys players’ wives, girlfriends, coaches and staff, plan to see her during the six-week run.
The transition also feels fitting for someone who has spent much of her life dancing. Weaver noted that many of the women on the team grew up performing choreography to songs from Chicago, including “Cell Block Tango,” “Roxie” and “Hot Honey Rag.”
For Weaver, though, the Broadway debut is about more than another performance. It represents the beginning of a much less predictable chapter.
She admitted that when she decided to retire from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, she knew she was ready for something new but had no idea exactly what would come next. Now she’s embracing that uncertainty.
After her Chicago run, Weaver said she plans to slow down, spend time at home with her husband, and enjoy a little normalcy before turning her attention to her upcoming book, This Is Where You Bloom, due in May 2027.
For now, though, she’s got Broadway. And considering how quickly one dream followed the end of another, Reece Weaver’s post-DCC era may just be getting started.
