Lamar Odom Arrested on DUI Charge in Las Vegas
By Alexus Mosley
Former NBA star Lamar Odom was reportedly arrested and charged with driving under the influence in Las Vegas early Saturday morning.
According to TMZ, Odom, 46, was taken into police custody in the early hours of Saturday, Jan. 17. Court records show that in addition to the DUI charge, he is also facing two traffic violations: driving more than 41 miles per hour over the speed limit and improper lane change or failure to maintain his lane.
The former Los Angeles Lakers forward has been open in the past about his struggles with substance abuse. In 2013, sources confirmed to People that Odom had checked himself into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center just one week after a previous DUI arrest in California. That case resulted in a plea agreement that included three years of probation, a three-month alcohol education program, and approximately $1,800 in fines and penalties.
Odom has also publicly reflected on one of the most harrowing moments of his life in his 2019 memoir, Darkness to Light, detailing his near-fatal overdose in a Las Vegas brothel in 2015 involving cocaine, alcohol, and cannabis.
We at Pop Culturette will continue to report on this story as it develops and are wishing Lamar Odom the best.
