Colleen Hoover Shares Health Update After Cancer Diagnosis
By Alexus Mosley
Colleen Hoover is setting the record straight and sharing some good news.
The bestselling author, known for It Ends With Us, shared a positive health update after previously revealing she had been diagnosed with cancer in 2025. In a Facebook post on January 17, Hoover confirmed that she has completed treatment and is now cancer-free.
“I do not have cancer anymore,” Hoover wrote, addressing what she described as “misleading” reports that made it seem as though she was “on her deathbed.” According to the author, she was diagnosed sometime last year, underwent surgery that was successful, and recently finished radiation treatment. “I am done and good, and all is well and has been well,” she added. Hoover also credited her medical team for her recovery, writing simply, “My doctors doctored. Hell yeah.”
Just days earlier, on January 12, Hoover had shared that she was nearly finished with radiation. She later provided more insight into her diagnosis, explaining that genetic testing showed her cancer was not inherited. “My cancer did not come from family genes,” she wrote in a January 9 Facebook post. “It also didn’t come from the two main causes of the cancer, which are HPV and excessive hormones.”
According to Hoover, doctors believe the cancer was more likely linked to environmental or lifestyle factors, including stress, lack of exercise, and diet. Despite the seriousness of her diagnosis, Hoover maintained her signature candor and humor while discussing lifestyle changes.
“I’m happy and grateful to be alive, but I hate vegetables. I hate when I have to get off the couch. I hate sweating,” she joked. “I hate when science is right.” She added, “If you see me at the gym, don’t even tell me good job. If you see me at a restaurant eating grilled chicken and drinking water, I’m probably really mad about it.”
For now, Hoover says she’s healthy, finished with treatment, and grateful, bringing relief to fans who have followed her journey closely.
