Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski are parting ways after nine years of marriage.
The couple confirmed their split on September 15, sharing that they had already been separated for some time. “We have been separated for a while, and it’s proven to be the right move for us and our family unit,” the pair said in a joint statement to People. “We’ve got each other forever—and it’s GOOD.”
Breakup speculation began earlier this month after Seyfried was seen at the Toronto International Film Festival without her wedding ring. Still, the split appears to be amicable.
On the same day the news became public, Seyfried shared a photo of Sadoski on her Instagram Story with the hashtag “#reptiledad,” suggesting the two remain on friendly terms. She also posted a quote about approaching difficult situations as simply “the next thing you’re figuring out.”
Seyfried and Sadoski first met in 2015 while starring together in the off-Broadway play The Way We Get By. They later eloped in 2017 in a private ceremony. At the time, Sadoski described the wedding as simple and intimate, with only the couple, an officiant, and Seyfried’s dog Finn present.
Seyfried, 40, and Sadoski, 50, share two children, daughter Nina, 9, and son Thomas, 5. The pair later welcomed their daughter in 2017 and their son in 2020.
Throughout their relationship, both actors largely kept their family life private. Now, nearly a decade after tying the knot, Seyfried and Sadoski say the separation has been the right decision for their family.
Their statement makes clear that while their marriage has ended, their relationship as co-parents and family remains important to both of them.
