Cheetah Sisters, rejoice!

After years of speculation and countless reunion rumors, Disney has officially confirmed that The Cheetah Girls franchise is returning. A fourth installment, titled The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen, has officially been greenlit, with production set to begin this month in South Africa.

The upcoming film won’t just introduce a brand-new generation of Cheetahs. it will also reunite several beloved stars from the original trilogy. Leading the charge is Raven-Symoné, who is reprising her fan-favorite role as Galleria Garibaldi. In addition to starring in the film, Raven will also serve as an executive producer alongside original franchise producer Debra Martin Chase. Joining her is Adrienne Bailon, who is returning as Chanel Simmons while also stepping behind the scenes as a co-producer. Fans will also get to see Sabrina Bryan reprise her role as Dorinda Thomas in a special appearance.

Rather than simply revisiting the original quartet, The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen introduces audiences to a fresh group of aspiring performers. The story follows Galleria and Chanel as they travel to Africa with Faith, Galleria’s daughter, and three of her close friends to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary. During the trip, the four teenage girls are forced to navigate friendship, discover their own voices, and work together to save the preserve. Along the way, they embrace the values that made the original Cheetah Girls so beloved before ultimately stepping onto the stage as the franchise’s newest generation of Cheetahs.

Disney has also cast four young actresses to portray the next group of Cheetah Girls, along with two additional newcomers who will join the expanding ensemble. The reunion isn’t limited to the cast. Original Cheetah Girls director Bille Woodruff is returning to direct the new film, while Kara Holden, Sarah Watson, and Deborah Swisher penned the screenplay. Acclaimed choreographer Kyle Hanagami, whose credits include Mean Girls, has also signed on to choreograph the movie’s musical performances, promising plenty of high-energy dance numbers for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

When The Cheetah Girls premiered in 2003, it quickly became one of Disney Channel’s defining franchises. Between its unforgettable soundtrack, bold fashion, and empowering message about friendship and following your dreams, the films helped shape an entire generation of viewers. Now, more than two decades later, Disney is hoping to capture that same magic for a new audience while giving longtime fans the reunion they’ve been waiting for.

With original stars returning, familiar creatives back behind the scenes, and an entirely new generation ready to carry the Cheetah legacy forward, The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen is already shaping up to be one of Disney’s most nostalgic revivals.
